Part of an RV adventure is you never know what is going to come up that may change your plans.  Day before yesterday, after a neat day on the golf course, we came home and spent the evening playing cards with Julie and Vaughan.  During the card game, Vaughan let us know that they could not stay as long as planned at our next stop in Escalante.  He got notice he needed to get back to work by next Monday.  Since they were planning on leaving their RV out here and driving back, that meant they needed to leave on Friday, not Tuesday as planned.   So there ensued a discussion of exactly where we should go on our next stop, where they will leave the RV, etc.  We scrambled around and found a KOA about 1/2 way between here and Escalante.  We plan to stay there two days and then on Friday begin our trek up to Idaho.  We called our Idaho stay and got a reservation for an extra fours days there.  All good so far, eh?  But there is always more to these changes than you think.

That night, I got deathly sick, up all night, major abdominal pain along with all the actions that entails.  The next morning and afternoon, I tried to recover...food poisoning?... or my favorite, diverticulitis??  Finally about 5 PM, we decided to go to the local hospital to get checked out and maybe get some medication to ward off what was happening to me.  Great hospital facility here in this small town of Kanab.  We got lucky, in that this is a regional spot for most small towns around here. Thus a great, but small facility.  Anyway, after getting checked out, the Doctor agreed with me that more than likely I was having a bout of diverticulitis.  My hope was that I caught it early enough that I could avoid a hospital stay.  The Doctor suggested we not leave this area for a few more days, beyond what our plans were, in case I needed to be admitted.  He suggested that the facilities at our next stop, Panguitch, was less than ideal.  Whew!  What else could go wrong?  Anyway, while we were at the hospital, Vaughan checked out a local RV storage facility here in Kanab that he felt would be better than the one in Panguitch.  So now, we are deciding whether to extend our stay here in Kanab or go to Panguitch as previously planned.  Never a dull moment.  This morning I am feel "back from the dead". Haven't eaten in two days, so that will be a very good test.  Hopefully, my health issues for this latest episode are gone and we can continue on our way to Idaho on Friday morning.

RV adventures, never a dull moment!  The slideshow has our pics from our golf outing on Sunday.  This is the only pic we took yesterday.  It's of Vaughan searching for something in his RV storage compartment.
