Lots of pics driving to Jackson, Wyoming from Declo, Idaho! Really nice drive. No stress, no worries of steep declines, and wonderful scenery coming up from the south to Jackson along the snake river. Before we left our RV site in Idaho, a Prevost, very expensive and high quality RV, parked next to us. It had similar colors as ours and was driven by a little old lady. Yep that's right, the guy was in the passenger seat as the woman parked the vehicle, 45 feet of it! Linda, where are you when it's time to drive?
Yesterday, we arrived at our RV site, not a great RV park, right after noon. Had to run to the bike shop and replace a tube on Linda's bike. When we woke up and I began loading the bikes on the car for the drive to Jackson, noticed Linda's front tire was flat. Must have picked up something on that last bike ride along the river. Went to the visitor's center to get the lay of the land. Met up with a nice older woman who convinced Linda to buy a can of bear spray. I'm more worried Linda will use it on me, by accident?, while hiking versus her actually having to use it on a charging bear! Oh well, $50 later and we are prepared!
Today we got up super early to try and catch the local animals out and about, mainly Moose! Was unlucky in that arena, at least on the morning hike. We missed a few opportunities to see Bear while on a 3 mile hike along Jenny's lake. Every time I hear that name, Jenny, I can just hear Tom Hanks as Forrest Gump saying, Jenneeee! Was a nice hike, rough terrain and a few great, great views. The Grand Tetons are amazing and I could look at them all day long. A few spots on the scenic driver portion were simply fantastic!
And finally it happened. We came across a couple fo cars parked along a very narrow back road on our way out of the park. Yep, a Moose was lounging in the creek grazing and looking amazing. We actually got to walk down into the field to get maybe 30 yards away! Watched for awhile and took several photos. Should have taken a video of the action. Did see a few mule deer out in a few fields on the drive, but the moose takes the proverbial cake! NICE!
Will have all the pics for the last two days on a couple of slideshows starting tomorrow. A relaxing day tomorrow as we have a bike ride planned in the morning, shopping for new hiking shoes, and a spa visit in the late afternoon. Tonight we are going to drive the Teton Pass near sunset to see if we can catch some critters out and about!
Finally, when we arrived at our RV site and got set up, another RV, bigger than ours pulled into the spot next to us. Two people and five poodles got out! Yes, thats right, Linda was taking pics from inside our RV as they got out and we were amazed at the number of standard sized poodles that the couple traveled with. Love dogs, but five in a motorhome on a trip? Crazy!
